Suicide Awareness(Article)

"The epic story of tomorrow can't be written if it ends today"

Nearly one lakh people commit suicide every year in India. There are nearly 8 lakh suicide cases every year around the world. In 2019, the age group of 18-45 years, accounted for 67% of the total cases in India.

Suicide is a behavior, which is motivated by the desire to escape psychological pain. Now the most important question arises; what is the cause of suicidal thoughts? Is the problem being so big that it cannot be tackled up? Is the problem being so huge that ending one’s life is the only solution? Suicides are a result of mental trauma which is caused by disturbing experiences in childhood, death or separation from near ones, bullying, loss of social status, bad physical appearance, bad academic results, loss of job and various other reasons.

Our mind is very sensitive; any disturbing event gets printed on it and affects one’s life forever. “Haters cause depression, depression causes suicide”. Hateful comments by unknown people on the platform of social media too has a huge psychological impact. Social media has definitely bought up a revolution, but the biggest flaw is that “people randomly throw stones at you, and you don’t even know who they are” So should the technology be blamed and neglected? Should these hateful comments be taken seriously? If people try to bring you down, it only means that you are above them.

“When a person commits a suicide, it is not only his life which is affected but also shatters the lives of his loved ones”. A child is very dear to his parents. They will never be able to cope up the loss. Remember that it is not only your life, there are several others who connected with you. Everyone is born with a unique gift; everyone is unique. Life becomes beautiful when you move beyond your fixed reality and dare to explore the life you dream about.

“People are the most important asset”. The existence of each one of us is important in the society. We as people can do wonders and take the world to new heights. These hurdles of life must not affect us. “Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem”; we must not make the difficulties of life so huge that we end up giving our lives. All of us have a bright future ahead. We must live our life to the fullest and neglect all the hurdles in our journey to achieve our potential and live our lives peacefully.

“To anyone who’s hurting, it’s not a sign of weakness to ask for help, it’s a sign of strength” - Barack Obama.
