Van Mahotsav
Van Mahotsav Van Mahotsav is a tree planting week celebrated in the month of July from 1 st to 7 th of July. It was initiated in 1950 by K.M. Munshi, the then union agricultural minister to raise awareness for the conservation of forest and trees. Van Mahotsav as the name suggests festival of trees or celebration of trees. Why do we celebrate a festival or celebrate something, when it has something to do with us, when it has some significance in our lives. According to me, an Mahotsav is not only to raise awareness for conservation of trees but also to make people understand their significance. Trees play a vital role for our environment and our existence. Trees most importantly provide us oxygen, they bring rain, reduce pollution, prevent abrupt raise in temperature, provide us fruits and vegetables and many other uncountable things.
