An Introduction To South Korea

An introduction to South Korea

Koreans are believed to be the descendants of ancient people from Manchuria, Mongolia and Southern Siberia, who settled in the North Korean peninsula. South Korea was carved after division with North Korea post World War-II on 15th August, 1948. South Koreans follow Christianity, Buddhism, Protestantism and Catholicism. Koreans respect elders, understand importance of family, friends and ancestors.

Korea has lot of tourism potential with 14 Heritage sites. Jongmyo Shrine is a shrine dedicated to the continuation of memorial services for the deceased kings and queens. Changdeokgung is one of the “Five Grand Palaces” built by the kings of the Joseon Dynasty.

The capital city Seoul is a city of modern skyscrapers and has bustling markets with a variety of shops selling traditional handicrafts, clothing, shoes, cosmetics, accessories and what not.

Korea is famous for many things; one among them is the Korean food. It includes Kimchi, Samgyeopsal and Instant noodles. Korea is also famous for its pop-culture and Korean movies which are liked across the world. South Korea is one of the biggest economies & companies like LG and SAMSUNG are the leading electronic producers across globe. Hyundai and KIA motors are renowned Korean automobile companies.

Thousands of Koreans visit Ayodhya as the princess of Ayodhya, Heo Hwang-ok, also known as Suriratna, went all the way to Korea 2000 years ago to marry King Suro Geumgwan Gaya. Together they both are heralded as the ancestors of more than two-thirds of Koreans today.

South Korea and India have relations since 2000 years and it would be immense pleasure to visit South Korea along with my friends.
